One Day Closer

“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakens.” – Carl Gustav Jung

Acupuncturevolunteer.com is a place for people who want to volunteer their medical skills overseas in underdeveloped countries.  We provide medical camps and free acupuncture around the world. This Medical Volunteer website is a part of the registered 5013(c) nonprofit, One Day closer. If you’re an acupuncturist or herbalist or other health care provider, and wish to volunteer your time and services, this is the place for you.

One Day Closer is a not for profit that provides free health care around the world for improvished people. Our main modality is Chinese medicine (acupuncture and Herbs), but we strive to use multiple types of medical modalities and welcome all types of health care providers (see ‘Volunteer Now’ for more information).

ODC finds towns or villages that could benefit from having access to free health care; typically in third world countries. We then schedule a “camp”, or a clinic, in the area and work with a local contact to get the details worked out, and a clinic set up. Theses camps will last anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months (see ‘Future Medical Camps’ to see what we currently have set up). We are typically a group of 2 - 6 acupuncturists, but this number varies greatly depending on the location, accommodations, and our resources. If we can be a larger group of practitioners in certain areas, we will be!  We are also trying to build free acupuncture hospitals internationally and domestically.  We are trying to establish free acpuncture hospitals/medical camps abroad so they continue to operate even when we are not there.  We plan to incorporate Eastern and Western modalities;such as acupuncture, surgery, herbs, western drugs, etc; in these free hospitals.

By volunteering abroad, you will have the opportunity to treat 1000’s of people, see other parts of the world, make lifelong friendships, gain invaluable medical and personal experience, and feel the great satisfaction of giving health and hope to others.

ODC is here to help, how we can, whomever is in need.

We hope you will have a look around the site and contact us with any questions, comments, or interest. If you live in an area that is lacking health care, and think we can help, please contact us. If you are here because you know of an area that needs health care, please contact us. If you would like to volunteer your time and skills, please join our e-mailing list on the ‘future medical camps’ page. If you would like to help with a monetary donation, you can do so on the ‘make a donation’ page. Donations are an integral part of this project, and we couldn’t do it without your generous support!

Come be a part of something bigger than yourself! The greatest gift any of us can ever give is of ourselves. You can always email me, Brad whisnant, founder and director at brad@acupuncturevolunteer.com for further questions or ideas.
