Welcome to www.acupuncturevolunteer.com We are proud and pleased to here and supporting those in need.
We are committed to providing free health care to those in need; domestically and internationally. We have donated our time and resources in India, Guatemala, Honduras, Vietnam, America and hopefully in the future additional countries. I am an licensed acupuncturist and certified herbalist that lives and works in Oregon, USA. I have a private practice and I additionally volunteer overseas. I take individuals and groups of people, and at times i go by myself to volunteer overseas. We are dedicated to serving others; we are non political, non religious, and have no special interests other than to help those in need. We will go to any country that desires our help.
The idea of “free health-care” was hatched one day over coffee with an old friend of mine. We were talking about why, “isn’t this medicine available to everybody?” and more importantly, “why do so many people go with out health-care?”.
With the vision in mind, I decided to take acupuncture to the world; free of charge and to any of those in need. Most people ask me, “why do i do this?”, i have always responded, “why WOULDN’T i do this?”. What is this life if I give to no one? What is this life we all we do it take and capture? We must give back, help those in need, teach, love, forgive, and help those who cannot help themselves. I established ATBW a 5013c non profit and then changed that name to One Day Closer. Since then we have been a nonprofit with legal 5013c status.
It is our goal at acupuncturevolunteer.com to ultimately establish free clinics all over the world. Our biggest obstacle has been once we leave, the healing stops. In the future I hope to teach local people who can be funded by myself and the non profit we run to continue the healing in the local community. We are currently purchasing land in South East Asia to be used as a “base of operations” and also to build a free acupuncture and herbal hospital. This is our long term goal. We hope to have this happen by 2012-2015. I do see a future where there are 5-10 free hospitals all over the world in small villages. I see these hospitals being funded by my nonprofit, myself, individuals, grants etc. I was so inspired by the book, 3 Cups of Tea by Greg Mortensen while i was on my first volunteer medical trip in India. It was then I struck by the “volunteer” bug. I realized then it was my path to give to those that cannot give to themselves. It was my path to give to others so that they may have. I realized then, that true happiness doesn’t reside outwardly by taking and acquiring; but by giving. I have never been happier in my life than when i was able to give to a 100 people day in small town in India. It is in the giving, that we receive. It is by healing others that we are healed; and we find love by giving love. Its is my uttermost hope that my life be in dedication to service to others and this site may help foster that spirit of giving to others around the world.
If any of you need to contact me directly you can do so by visiting my website at, www.sthelensacupuncturist.com
I see a day that myself, my wife, and my family will sail, establishing free medical clinics. It is a day that i welcome.
