    Hello everybody!
I set this blog up so people, from wherever can blog about their past or current experience about volunteering overseas! You can blog about your experience while with ODC, or you can just blog about where you are going or where you are at—even if you are on your own! This can be a place for people share success stories, ideas, problems, a “what to take” list, a “how to prepare” list, “how to deal with bills while away”, treatment ideas; whatever you would like it to be. It can even be a blog about domestic volunteering! Volunteering is the same regarldess if its domestic or oveseas, you are giving of yourself, and that is worth hearing about.

Please keep the blog to positive, constructive ideas, and have fun with. I will be blogging continually while im on my trips, so check to see “weekly” updates as to how things are going at our volunteer acupuncture trips, or our medical camps, or just about our overseas medical trials and tribulations.

    be well all of you!

I just wanted to welcome and say thank you to everyone that has visited the site! We have been getting lots of international attention and its wonderful!

    To answer a few questions;
It doesnt matter where you received your education. As long as you have had formal education in your modality of healing, whether it be in America or internationally, its acceptable.

Some of trips have changed due to political environments. These things can change quickly, and I will try to keep all of you updated (that are on the email list–make sure you join our email list) as to the changes in trips (whether planned or not).

Lastly, its ok if you don’t do acupuncture. Its also ok if you arent a “doctor” or a “healer”. We are looking for anybody who wants to help others. Our main healing modality is acupuncture and herbs, but if you want to give, your passion is welcomed, and your particular modality of medicine is welcomed as well.

Thank you all again, domestic and international visitors, for taking a look at the site.
    be well, all of you.

Please visit forums@Gancao.net. There are many great “posters” and ideas about volunteering, suggestions, ideas, past trips, connections, and future trips.

I think its a great place for anybody who wants to volunteer and needs more or additional information that they may not find here…

Well, things are going great! We have set up Vietnam to do future trips overseas! Internationally there are more places to treat than i have time or money to do so! There are free medical camps in Kenya, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Hati, South America, Vietnam, Phillipines, etc! It seems each time One Day Closer goes somewhere a 100 more doors open as to where people need health care. We are continuing to expand our commerical relationships, cement our international friendships, and coordinate with other non profit medical camps. In the months and years to come, it most certaintly will be amazing! In the last year we have conducted a volunteer/free medical camp in India, Honduras, Guatemala, United states, and recentley Vietnam. We have are looking at additional orphanages, non profit projects, villages, and countries where we can be of assitance. There are so many opportunities out there right now to help! We just hope we can continue to use acupuncture, treat for free, learn, give, receive, use our herbs, incoporate our western medical doctor and help those in need. Thank you all for your support, your generosity, and your kindness. We are healing the world one person at a time. We will continue to take acupuncture and medicanal herbs domestically, internationally, and where ever there is need!

You can always see more pictures of our vietnam experience on my facebook page. Just search for me at, brad whisnant. The acupuncture was free, it was an international coordination of groups, and it was an overseas experience of a lifetime. It was medicine at its best, and friendship at its finest! My heart wept when we left. I was changed forever. Thank you Vietnam! Next time we shall get to spend some time in Phillipines, Cambodia, and Laos. Thailand is a great vacation spot! We were able to spend a few days of R&R there.

Our overseas acupuncture clinics are always quite an experience both medically and spirtually.

See you all on the next one!

    Hello All:
I am pleased to be able to provide more details regarding the training in April. With this information, I am hoping as many of you as possible will join us.
Allen Magezi, our coordinator in Uganda, and I have determined that our next trainings will be located in Rakai, Lyantonde, and Sembabule districts. These are districts between Mbarara and Masaka. The reason for choosing these districts is that it is said that HIV/AIDS started in this area, and currently the HIV prevalence in Rakai, they say it is above 8%. (It is 6.2% in the whole of Uganda.) There was a long-term study carried out about AIDS in these districts, and Uganda and the international community have benefited a lot from this study. We will be located in Lyantonde, where we will be training two groups from the Rakai districts.
While in Rakai we will be providing the first of three trainings, in Kenya, we will be conducting the last of three to a committed group of Trainees who are eagerly awaiting PAAP’s arrival.
Here are the dates, as far as we know right now:
    Kenya: 20 - 24 April
    Uganda: 27 April - 8 May
We and have openings in both the Kenya and Uganda trainings and really need as many of you as possible to participate. It would be extremely helpful, practically and financially, especially for the Uganda component, to recruit up to four more Trainers. Please confirm in which training/s you will be participating. And, if you know of anyone who might be enticed to join us, please do all you can to encourage her/him to join us in April.
We can certainly guarantee a most satisfying, meaningful experience.
